The Best Tips & Ideas for Stunning Engraved Wedding Bands

The single most common reason that Americans get married is that they want to be with the person that they love. In fact, 88% of people cited love as what they consider the most important aspect of a marriage. The idea that 'love trumps all' is certainly applicable to spending your life with someone.

Engraved wedding bands are important, because they serve as a unique symbol for a unique partnership. Exchanging these rings at your wedding is a great way to show how much you value your spouse and express your commitment to them. Read on to learn some tips and ideas for your engraved wedding rings.

Ring Styles to Look At

Before you can begin the engraving process, it's important to choose the perfect ring for your partner. Everyone has different tastes in jewelry, so there are a number of different styles that you should look into. Read on to learn about some of these beautiful and 100% engravable options!

Classic Wedding Bands

Traditional wedding rings come in many different shapes and sizes. Thin bands are subtle and go with pretty much every outfit, but thick bands are the superior option for engraving. They also go well for brides that wear them alongside engagement rings and grooms who want thicker, more masculine pieces.

You can get them in metals including yellow, rose and white gold. Additionally, there are a multitude of ways that gemstones can be incorporated into the design.

Everyone has different likes and dislikes when it comes to jewelry, so it's important that you and your partner sit down and talk about all of your options. Unlike an engagement ring, wedding bands aren't meant to be a surprise.  They're something that you choose together!

Designer Bridal Rings

Do you or your bride want something a little more luxurious? Designer bridal bands might be the option for you. These bands are generally thinner than the traditional rings that we discussed earlier. They also tend to incorporate more gemstones (or at least larger ones).

However, this doesn't make them less able to be engraved! As with all of our items, we offer same-day engravings on designer bridal rings. You can put a word or symbol on the band just as easily as you could on a thick band. The font will simply need to be a bit smaller!

Gorgeous Diamonds and Gemstones

There's an interesting history to diamonds as wedding band stones. The practice was popularized in the mid-20th century and persists today. Because of this, we pride ourselves on carrying a plethora of different diamond wedding rings. You can also select them as a way to customize your engraved wedding band.

The same applies for diamond and gemstone pendants that make the perfect wedding gift for a new bride! She can wear these while on her honeymoon as an accessory to the gorgeous dresses that she plans to pack.

If you want to add a pop of color to your engraved wedding ring, a colored gemstone may be right for you. White diamonds are great, but so are stones in your new spouse's favorite color. Aquamarine is a gorgeous gem that's reminiscent of calming waters, while rubies are a gorgeous show of fiery passion.

What Should You Engrave on Them?

Now that you know some of the best ring styles on the market, it's time to take a look at the ways that you can make them your own. Engraving and customizing your wedding ring is the best way to express the beauty of your love and remind your partner (and yourself) each day that your relationship is special. Read on to learn some of the most interesting ways to make your wedding ring unique!

Names and Personalization

The single most common engraving for wedding rings, or any jewelry for that matter, is the name of the person receiving it. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise considering that names are an integral part of a person's identity. When you and your partner engrave your names side-by-side on your wedding band, it's more than just a personalized statement, it's a meshing of your identities.

Some people worry that name engravings will make for a boring and nonunique wedding band. However, this is far from the case. There are hundreds of different fonts and styles that you can choose for your etching. Sitting down with your partner and one of our well-informed professionals is a great way to ensure that your name engraving is far from dull.

You also don't need to make your names the only thing that you engrave on your wedding band! Names can co-exist with a meaningful symbol or a word that exemplifies your relationship. You don't need to choose one statement or the other, you can have your wedding cake and eat it, too!

Words of Commitment

Whether or not you choose to add your names to the band, you might want to include a word that describes your love. Temporal words like 'eternity' or 'infinity' are good choices, as are emotion-related words like 'commitment' and 'affection.'

Wedding bands are small, but that doesn't mean that your etching has to be only a single word. Expert engravers can fit a short sentence when allowed to use the entire circumference of the band. This means that you're free to incorporate a meaningful saying about love, a quote from a book you've bonded over, a favorite biblical verse, or the name of the place that you met or proposed.

Additionally, you can get these words and phrases on either the inside or the outside of your engraved jewelry. This means that you can share it with the world if you like, but also that you can keep it a secret between yourself and your spouse.

Foreign Language Inscriptions

Another awesome way to spice up your engraving is to have an inscription in a different language. After choosing the phrase that you want on your wedding band, translate it or have someone fluent in your target language translate it into another language.

One way to choose the language that you want your inscription to be in is to base it on a location that's meaningful to you. For example, if you and your partner had an amazing trip to Paris a few years ago, a French engraving may serve to remind you of that time. If one of you has Iranian ancestry and is in touch with it, a Farsi engraving will remind both you and your partner of the place that you're connected with.

You also can choose your inscription based on appearance. Chinese and Japanese characters are beautiful, as are Arabic letters. These languages are stunning when etched into a band.

Latin and Old English are also common choices for impressions, and with good reason. These languages are elusive and iconic. 'Ad infinitum' (to eternity) makes a great inscription, but there are many other romantic phrases that we'll leave you and your partner to have fun researching!

Meaningful Symbols

If you don't want words on your wedding band (or you want an image to go along with your words), then a meaningful symbol may be the perfect etching for your ring. The infinity sign, a small heart, a favorite flower, or even a tiny animal that you both love will work wonders. You can also create fingerprint rings that incorporate your fingerprints into the band.

Dates also make awesome symbols that you can etch onto a wedding band. Consider adding an impression of the date that you met or the date of your wedding. This will remind you of the best days of your life whenever you look at it.
